The VCOM and Virginia Tech Sports Medicine Fellowship provides the sports medicine fellows with training to evaluate and optimize the athlete-patient’s performance while mitigating the effects of acute and chronic disease and injury. Those skills extend across a vast population of patients: pediatric athletes, high school athletes, university athletes, professional athletes, disabled athletes, geriatric athletes, and the general population who participate in sporting activities for health and fitness.

Primary care sports medicine is a dynamic and rapidly growing subspecialty in the medical profession. The Sports Medicine Fellowship with VCOM and Virginia Tech provides a unique set of skills in providing care for athletic patients.
