The Board of Advisors shall be between nine and seventeen voting members. Members of the Board of Advisors shall be representatives from OMNEE members that have at least one operational residency program.

The Board of Advisors shall consist of persons knowledgeable in osteopathic medicine, education, health care, research, and legal academic matters. The Board of Advisors shall be composed of the Dean or his/her designee of each COM and the Vice-Dean or his/her designee from any additional campuses. Hospital/health care facility Board of Advisors membership will be drawn by the COM affiliation. COMs with one to seven operational* residency programs shall appoint one representative from affiliated base institutions. COMS with eight to fifteen operational residency programs will appoint two representatives from base institutions, and COMs with sixteen or more operational residency programs will appoint three representatives from affiliated base institutions. Advisors are appointed by the affiliated COM and serve until they are removed by the institution/COM they represent.  Additional non-voting members may be added from time to time for the benefits of expertise.

*The number active residency programs shall be determined based on the number of programs that enter either the NRMP or NMS match and as a result expect to have residents on July 1 in the calendar year immediately following the match.
